If you were to come to worship in September 1817, what would you have found?  Worship that day might have been in one of your neighbours’ homes or barns, or even outdoors if the weather cooperated.  The first church building didn’t go up until 1819.  Our first pastor, William Jenkins, would have been living in the area for about a month, and he may have come down from his farm up near what’s now Elgin Mills Rd. in Markham to provide the message.  Worship then was an all day affair – it was “the Lord’s day” after all.

As we launch our bicentennial celebrations on September 10, 2017, we’re going back to our roots (with some modifications).  Come and get a taste for how it all began! Weather permitting, we will gather on the lawn beside the Manse. Greeters will be available to assist you with seating. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m.

Please bring lawn chairs if you have them along with hats and sunglasses. If you would like to come historically attired, please do so!
